Portraits & Prints, the personal photo studio from Econ Technologies for Mac OS X, has been updated.

Portraits & Prints is a photo printing solution that stores image enhancements for use at any time without ever touching the original image. It works with Mac OS X’s Image Capture to automatically download pictures from digital cameras and open them in Portraits & Prints.
The latest version has several new features, such as manual photo placement, a customizable user interface, full ColorSync workflow support, better integration with other programs (such as iPhoto), and the ability to export photos, according to Joseph Japes of Econ. It also adds the ability to export photos to a variety of popular file formats.
The new “Save-back” feature exports images back to their original files with one click, even if those files are from other applications like iPhoto. You can now e-mail photos in a variety of ways: by directly using Services, drag-and-drop photos onto email messages, or export photos to use as attachments.
An accompanying application, Portraits & Prints Template Maker, creates custom photo layouts for use in Portraits & Prints. It can be used to place any size photo, imports graphics, and can add text to templates.
Purchase Portraits & Prints costs US$19.95 and Portraits & Prints Template Maker costs $9.95 for electronic downloads from Econ Technologies. Free demo versions are also available.
