Virtix, Inc. explained that the Virtix Sample Pack was developed using the iMovie Software Development Kit (SDK) from Apple. The company believes it’s the first freeware special effects kit to be released developed using the iMovie SDK. The Virtix Sample Pack includes “Extreme Black and White,” “Flame,” and Letterbox.”
“Extreme Black and White” turns an iMovie clip into an abstract high-contrast image. “Flame” makes it look like a clip is on fire. “Letterbox” is a special effect that makes a video clip look like a widescreen movie.
You can download the Virtix Sample Pack for iMovie from the Virtix, Inc. Web site now; the software works with iMovie 2.0.1 or higher for Mac OS 9, as well as iMovie 2.1 or higher for Mac OS X.
Virtix, Inc. has already released Bravo and Echo — commercial collections of filters and transitions for iMovie — also developed using the iMovie SDK from Apple.
