Apple has released an updated version of AppleWorks, the company’s popular productivity application suite. The software will update to version 6.2.3 or 6.2.4, depending on whether you’re using AppleWorks in Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X.

This updated release of AppleWorks sports improved functionality with Macintosh Manager as well as FAXstf. Other fixes and frequently requested features have also been implemented, according to Apple.
AppleWorks now sports the ability to read and write Microsoft Word and Excel files. The software also features enhanced formatting tools, faster download of templates from the Internet, better networking compatibility and other changes.
The AppleWorks 6.2.4 updater is offered as a free download from Apple’s Web site. In order to use it, you’ll need to be running Mac OS 8.1 or later, as well as AppleWorks 6 or greater.
