Digital Voodoo today introduced a new high definition capture and playback card for the Macintosh called the HD Fury. The card features 1 HD SDI input, 1 HD SDI output and 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio with simultaneous SD SDI downconversion.

Digital Voodoo said the new HD Fury card is compatible with all Mac High Definition design and editing applications, including Apple’s Final Cut Pro 3 software. The card enables users to work with uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 video in YUV colorspace.
Digital Voodoo product manager Matt Dowling explained that the HD Fury card supports simultaneous SD SDI downconversion to 8 channels of digital audio through an audio breakout box called “The Junction.”
“The HD Fury can handle dual stream HD as well as a programmable interface. This allows seamless updates to the card’s features through a simple installer download for future enhancements such as RT color correction. Put simply, the HD Fury provides the most versatile, cost effective and best image quality available on the Mac,” said Dowling.

Digital Voodoo expects to ship the HD Fury in the second quarter of 2002. The product carries a suggested retail price of US$11,995. The HD Fury comes bundled with Digital Voodoo’s own Media Transfer application, which enables frame-accurate capture and insertion from and to an RS-422 controllable digital tape deck.
