Unibrain Inc. today introduced its FireNAS storage product to attendees of this weeks NAB 2002 conference in Las Vegas, Nev. FireNAS is a Network Attached Storage product that comes equipped with Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, and 10/100baseT Ethernet networking built in.

FireNAS supports Windows, UNIX/Linux, Solaris, Network, and Mac OS, as well as FireWire networks. It’s available in capacities from 240GB to 640GB, and sports a 1.2GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and 7,200 RPM hard disk drives. The system utilizes Windows 2000 Embedded as its core operating system.
FireNAS sports management software that can be accessed via a Web browser. It will automatically alert the administrator via e-mail if there are any failures or system warnings. Unibrain claims the device can be set up and installed in less than 5 minutes. It’s available both in desktop and rackmount versions.
The FireNAS comes equipped with two FireWire ports in addition to the Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100baseT networking. It also features two USB interfaces for peripheral connectivity. FireWire networking is supported on both Macs and PCs, and the device comes with five FireNet user licenses. Bridging is supported between all network ports, and the device can be configured with RAID Level 0, 1, or 5 protection.
