The broadband and service delivery specialists at Netopia are enhancing their delivery platform with the immediate availability of netOctopus 4.0, which adds support for Mac OS X. The new version also includes full database support and enhanced software distribution capabilities.
netOctopus provides complete hardware and software inventories detailing the configuration of each computer on the Intranet in real-time without interrupting the workflow of users. This information is automatically monitored, and changes are reported.
In addition to asset inventories, netOctopus ensures software license compliance, and assists in planning and executing software deployments and updates, Tom Skoulis, senior vice president and general manager at Netopia, said. The new SQL back-end support makes netOctopus even easier to integrate with existing inventory and reporting systems, by providing live synchronization between netOctopus and standard databases such as MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase and more, he added.
netOctopus 4.0 is available immediately online. Purchasing options and a demo version are also available.
