The UAD-1 is a 7 inch PCI card that sports on-board digital signal processing. It’s designed to aid processor-intensive VST-compatible plug-ins that would otherwise occupy the attention of the host computer’s CPU.
Mackie president and CEO Jamie Engen explained that the Mac is an extremely popular platform with Mackie’s clients in music and post production. “Support of the Macintosh platform shows our commitment to continually provide the products our customers need.”
The Powered Plug-Ins Pro bundles the card together with the same plug-ins included with the PC version — RealVerb Pro, a high-quality stereo reverb developed by Kind of Loud Technologies; LA-2A Compressor and 1176LN emulations; the EQ-1 EQ module; CX-1 compression module; MD-1 modulated delay, and RS-1 Room Simulator.
Mackie Designs indicated that the UAD-1 will support Mark of the Unicorn products later this year. The bundle is available for a suggested retail price of US$995.
