Volera, a provider of intelligent content networking software solutions and a subsidiary of Novell, has joined the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA). Volera makes Excelerator, a QuickTime-compatible caching server designed to speed end-user access to online content.
Apple is a member and co-founder of the ISMA. Volera, along with other industry leaders in the area of streaming media, will help support ISMA’s charter to promote an open-standards approach to streaming media.
“Volera’s expertise in the area of streaming media and content networking will add tremendous value to ISMA,” said Tom Jacobs, president of ISMA. “We’re pleased to have them join our other members to help promote ISMA 1.0, a specification designed to accelerate adoption of IETF and MPEG-4 standards for Internet streaming.”
