U.K.-based Mac game publisher Feral Interactive provided an update on several of its projects in development. The company reports progress on an auto racing game, a couple of news items related to the “God” game Black & White, and some other news too.
Feral reported that F1 Championship Season 2000 is currently in beta testing. The game, published for the PC by Electronic Arts, puts you behind the wheel of a Formula One race car. Calling the conversion “a hard task,” Feral said the game’s development is going well and that it plans to release the game this summer. Right now the developer is focusing on getting optimum performance from the code.
“Like the PC game from which it is ported, the circuit comes to life with fully interactive pit stops, roaring crowds, a buzzing grid and a full spectrum of driving conditions, including torrential downpours and other mid-race weather changes,” said Feral.
The company also reported that the long-awaited multiplayer patch for Black & White — distributed in North America by GraphSim Entertainment — is going through final testing presently. You’ll be able to play against up to eight other Mac users over the Internet or local area networks once the patch is released.
In other Black & White-related news, Feral reported that it’s developing Creature Isle — the official add-on expansion pack to Black & White. The add-on turns Black & White “into a whole new game,” according to Feral, where it pits you and your Creature against the Trials of the elite Brotherhood. Now your Creature can have its own intelligent creature, you can learn new skills and Miracles, and introduce your Creature to attractive female Creatures as well. Feral doesn’t have a specific release date, but said that the game is in “the early stages of development.”
MacSoft is still working to bring Max Payne — the innovative 3D action game featuring Matrix-style “bullet time” game play — and that should be out this Spring in North America. Feral Interactive optioned the European distribution rights to the game, and said that beta-testing will commence later this month. Feral plans to ship the game in Europe and Australasia in June.
