DragThing has been updated to version 4.3 by the folks at TLA Systems, and gets a new “Disk Dock” that can display all your hard disks, removable media, and connected servers, much in the same way as the “Process Dock” displays all your running applications. You can use it to “free your desktop,” according to James Thomson of TLA Systems.
With the new version, you can now use almost any key as a hot key on Mac OS X to open applications and documents, run AppleScripts, and open URLs — including the function keys. You don’t have to mess with modifier keys to do these things. DragThing is now a multi-lingual bundled application with support for English, Japanese, German, French and Italian.
Version 4.3 is a free upgrade for existing registered users of DragThing 4, US$10 for registered users of previous versions, and $25 for new users. Competitive upgrades are available for $19 to users of Aladdin DragStrip 3, and PowerOn ACTION GoMac 2. DragThing is a Carbon application that runs natively on Mac OS X, and on Mac OS 8.6 and 9 with CarbonLib 1.1 or later installed. You can download it from the product Web site.
