At the ongoing IPEX 2002 print-publishing trade show being held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England, Creo, a company that builds a variety of solutions for the graphic arts industry, has a new color management solution built for designers and other graphic arts professionals.
The Profile Wizard software will be bundled exclusively with the Eye-One Pro spectrophotometer from the color specialists at GretagMacbeth. It’s targeted to the high-end proofing market. The Eye-One Pro measures in both reflective and emissive modes, scans color patches and measures both CRT and flat panel displays. The measurement device is powered by a USB connection and can be used with both the Mac and PC.
Profile Wizard automatically builds and “intelligently” fine-tunes ICC-based profiles for input devices, including: scanners and digital cameras; monitors; output devices; DeviceLink and manyColors. The Profile Wizard-Eye-One Pro bundle lets end users “establish a complete ICC workflow, according to Sharon Ziv-Falk, Product Business Development and Product Marketing Manager, at Creo.
Unfortunately, the companies haven’t listed a price for their bundled solution. You’ll have to cruise on over to the Creo info site and request more data.
Meanwhile, ProfileMaker 4.0 color management software is now shipping. Among its new features is support for multi-channel output devices capable of 5-, 6- and 7-channel output including Hexachrome, plus several enhancements to its ProfileEditor, MeasureTool and ColorPicker modules. ProfileMaker will ship with Mac OS X capabilities in early summer.
