Ultimate Technographics has released a Mac OS X version of its IMPress imposition application for on-demand and digital printing at the IPEX 2002 print-publishing trade show being held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The show ends April 17.
IMPressX, built for users of digital press and small printing presses, supports over 150 applications. According to the folks at Ultimate, it works with all the latest digital presses, imagesetters and high-speed photocopies. It sports a template generator for Xerox-spire and automated “Best Fit” imposition.
With IMPressX, you can mix PostScript and PDF files onto the same plate. It comes with Origami, a virtual folding tool that allows “folding” of the press sheet on screen, automatically placing the order and orientation of the pages according to the folds. There’s no limitation to the number of pages in a document and it offers full control over page position, bleeds and scaling, according to Ultimate.
