Mailsmith, Bare Bones Software’s e-mail client for Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X, has been updated to version 1.5.1, which adds two optional “smart” columns for the mail browser, whose behavior changes depending upon the content of the current message list.
The “From/To” column displays the sender for incoming messages, and the recipient for outgoing messages, while the “Date Sent/Received” column displays the date sent for outgoing messages, and the date received for incoming messages. What’s more, the update sports a more flexible “mbox” file import procedure, and direct support for drag and drop of addresses from the Apple Address Book and Microsoft Entourage.
Mailsmith now accepts vcards generated by Palm Desktop. There are several others changes, too, which you can
read about online.
Registered users may update to Mailsmith 1.5.1 for free by downloading the update package available from the
Bare Bones Software Web site. All registered owners of Mailsmith version 1.0 and later are eligible to upgrade to Mailsmith 1.5.1 for $39.
For others, Mailsmith 1.5.1 has a suggested retail price of US$99. However, there’s a special discounted price of S$69 is available from now until May 31 directly from Bare Bones. After this time, a cross-upgrade discount of $79 will be available to owners of BBEdit, Claris Emailer or Qualcomm Eudora Pro.
