SCA Mecánica, S.A., a Venezuelan company, has released version 2.0 of Quick Pallet Maker a pallet arrangement and packaging design software for the Mac and Windows, Manager Tomas Sancio told MacCentral.
Most products are shipped in boxes and then in standard pallets. Most of the time, these standard pallets are shipped within standard containers or in trucks. Frequently, there’s some extra volume and/or weight in the containers or in the trucks that’ billed anyway by the carrier but that is not used by the client. The use of this extra space through software tools should be an important factor for all manufacturers, Sancio said.
Based on this need, SCA Mecánica created Quick Pallet Maker, a pallet loading/package design program that lets users calculate the optimal secondary package dimensions and pallet arrangements to reduce shipping costs.
In version 2 they have added redesigned windows, palletizing animation export, improved graphics, improved printing, increased stability and other features, Sancio said. There’s a free demo available at the company Web site. Quick Pallet Maker 2.0 costs US$379 per license for one to four licenses and $189 per license for five or more.
The solution runs on both the traditional Mac system (7.5.3 or higher) and Mac OS X (version 10.0.4 or higher is recommended). You’ll need at least 8 MB of RAM and at least a Mac with a PowerPC G3 chip.
