RagTime 5.6.1 is due to begin shipping next week. Users of version 5.x can upgrade for US$125 by ordering online.
RagTime 5 is the “Swiss Army Knife” of office software that’s distributed in North America by ComGrafix. The company says there are over 250,000 worldwide users of the “the only business publishing application that allows users to create spreadsheets, annual reports, generate catalogues and price lists, perform calculations and display them in graphical form using one program.”
ComGrafix also offers Ragtime Solo, a full commercial version of its RagTime business publishing software free of charge for private, non-commercial use. It’s a 50MB download.
In RagTime 5.6.1, you’ll be able to connect any ODBC database, including FileMaker Pro, to RagTime 5 with the RagTime Connect feature, Bob Horst of ComGrafix told MacCentral. A new SlideTime component is included for slide presentations. And RagTime now saves documents more efficiently, Horst said.
You’ll need at least System 7.1.2 to run RagTime, but OS 8 is recommended. There’s no Mac OS X native version yet.
