As we reported on April 8, Panasonic is launching three new Mac compatible models in its series of WORKiO digital imaging systems, designed for workgroups of 20 or more. You can also expect more Mac compatible products coming from Panasonic in the coming year.
“Future products, those coming out within the next year, will have PostScript and network Mac capabilities in all systems ranging from print speeds of 15 pages per minute to 70 ppm,” Paul Wharton, national marketing manager, Copier/Fax/MFP, Panasonic Document Imaging Company, told MacCentral.
At a recent meeting, Panasonic did a survey of dealers to discuss ways to better work with them. The company discovered that education was in the top 5 vertical markets.
“Macs are, of course, are used in lots of schools, so we realized that if we’re not supporting PostScript and Mac compatibility, we’re not doing a good job of supporting our customers,” Wharton said.
The benefits will go beyond education, he added. It will also benefit both Panasonic and Apple in mixed platform environments, such as in the corporate world, Wharton said.
