Mac game developer and publisher Freeverse Software is making an offer you can’t refuse on its gangster-themed strategy game, Deathground. You can buy it for US$0.50, plus a few bucks for shipping and handling.
Deathground takes a page from the classic board game Risk. A turn-based strategy game, Deathground puts you and up to six other opponents against each other as you vie for territory on an urban, national, or global level. You can play a hot-seat game with other humans, or let the computer play against you if you wish.
Featuring Freeverse’s trademark irreverence and sometimes goofy sense of humor, the game is chock full of zoot-suited and flapper-dressed gangsters and molls who wise-crack and retort as you and your thugs fight for turf.
Requiring Mac OS 8.1 or higher, Deathground also wants a PowerPC 603e-or better equipped Mac and 20MB RAM. Deathground doesn’t run natively in Mac OS X — although Freeverse has tested it in Classic. (Hey, for $0.50, what do you expect?)
Deathground costs $4.50 to ship, bringing your total cost up to $5.00 — significantly lower than the $29.95 this game originally retailed for. For more information or to order, visit Freeverse’s Web site. Use coupon code 8622 to order.
