Apple will open its first retail outlet in Michigan at the Twelve Oaks Mall, in Novi, possibly by this summer, according to a Detroit News article.
The new store — a component of Apple’s plans to have 49 or 50 such retail outlets open by the year’s end — will be on the upper level near the Sears wing at the center, Peggy Hayes, Twelve Oaks marketing director, said.
Construction hasn’t started. However, a spokesperson for Taubman Centers, owner of the mall, said it could take up to 90 days to open the store.
The new store will serve an appreciative audience of Mac enthusiasts in the Detroit area, Paul Stemmer, an executive director at Michigan Virtual University, said. An Apple retail store would be beneficial for Michigan Virtual University’s students, he added.
