OakTree Software has announced version 5.5 of Accordance, the company’s Mac-only Bible program. It’s a free upgrade to registered users of Accordance 5. You can also place an order for a US$5 updater CD-ROM.
With Accordance, you can compare multiple translations in parallel; you can look up words in the original Greek and Hebrew; consult a variety of commentaries, Bible dictionaries and reference works; analyze your search results with informative charts and graphs; or record your own notes on any verse, as well as create 2D and 3D maps with the Bible Atlas. There are currently 12 Accordance CD-ROMs available containing a “massive” amount of material, David Lang of OakTree said.
The biggest benefit of the 5.5 update is that at last the Parallel window allows a second text for each passage, so you can compare the original language with a translation, or the Hebrew, Septuagint and Greek NT all in one window, Dr. Helen A. Brown told MacCentral. Synchronized scrolling has also been improved in this window, she added.
There are also various bug fixes. What’s more, both the Accordance Help and the Tutorial now include the Bible Atlas, so help is available for any window. Accordance 5.5 costs from US$59 to $399, depending on configurations and modules.
