Storage product maker WiebeTech LLC is getting the word out that its FireWire KeyChain is now shipping. The diminutive device costs US$99.95 and is billed as “the world’s smallest FireWire drive.”
The FireWire KeyChain is a faster alternative to similar devices developed for USB interfaces. Inside the FireWire KeyChain is a FireWire bridge chip and an interface suitable for attaching a CompactFlash-compatible storage card — including IBM’s tiny 1GB MicroDrive.
You supply the CompactFlash card or MicroDrive of your choice, and then get to work. The FireWire KeyChain appears on your desktop like a conventional storage device.
WiebeTech is offering free USPS priority shipping, as well. Order from their online store by May 3 and put “Free Priority Shipping” in the comments area of the order to take advantage of the free shipping deal.
