Epson has announced a price cut on its Stylus Photo 820 ink jet printer. Formerly priced at US$149, the printer is now available for $99.
The Epson Stylus Photo 820 is a six-color printer that sports borderless printing capabilities and 2880 x 720 dpi resolution. The system features Epson’s Advanced Micro Piezo ink jet technology, which combined with the six-color system generates more accurate skin tones and a wider color range than other printers, according to Epson.
Epson’s BorderFree feature enables the Stylus Photo 820 to print from edge to edge in a variety of frame-ready and album-ready photo sizes from 4 x 6 inches to 8 x 10 inches (though sources report that this feature is not available under Mac OS X). The Stylus Photo 820 printer also features PRINT Image Matching technology, which Epson offers to digital camera manufacturers to make sure that images look as consistent as possible from camera to output.
The USB-based printer has also received a face-lift. Epson said the printer now has a new “silver and gray” body style that is designed to mimic the look of newer digital cameras. The printer’s drivers support Mac OS 8.6 – Mac OS X.
