DAVE enables Macs and Windows PCs working on the same network to better cooperate. The software enables Windows users to see and print to shared inkjet and PostScript printers in OS X, as well as share files. Large file transfer (over 2GB) is supported; as are long file names; Network Logon access for Microsoft Domains; automatic workgroup detection, and much more.
Thursby Software president William Thursby noted that outbound PostScript printer support in OS X is a key feature the company’s customers have been waiting for. “This update also includes enhancements for our OS 8.6-9.2 customers, as well as the addition of new OS X support for Clear Text passwords and LMHOSTS files,” he said.
DAVE 3.1.1 is a free update for folks who are already running DAVE 3.1. DAVE 2.5 users can purchase an upgrade from the Web site for US$89.95; a full single-user license is $149. Volume and educational discounts are available.
