FileMaker, the database software subsidiary of Apple, will be showcasing its products in a free seminar called “Accelerating Workgroup Productivity: FileMaker Pro Solutions for IT.” The seminar will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the FileMaker Regional Sales Office, 11 Penn Plaza, 5th floor in New York City.
The seminar is co-sponsored by FileMaker and Colibri Solutions, a New York City-based consulting firm specializing in custom FileMaker Pro solutions. Featured will be a variety of demonstrations designed to highlight the advantages to IT in combining FileMaker Pro software with the consulting services of FileMaker Solutions Alliance (FSA) members to provide timely and cost-effective database solutions to the workgroups in their organizations.
Key topics of the seminar include a special focus on FileMaker Pro and its adherence to such standards as ODBC, XML and JDBC for user connectivity to corporate data stores — all under IT’s control.
In addition to providing low total cost-of-ownership (TCO) for the enterprise, FileMaker Pro also delivers a wide variety of IT administration features including record-level security and LDAP authentication along with platform support for the Mac OS, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, Red Hat Linux, Citrix Metaframe, and Palm OS, according to Dominique Goupil, president of FileMaker, Inc.
