Apple today posted a new preview version of its Bluetooth software, Bluetooth Technology Preview 2.
The new version features the ability to pair with devices other than phones; 2Byte characters preserved when transferring files; ability to create outgoing serial ports.
Bluetooth is an emerging wireless networking standard designed to enable computers and various peripherals to communicate with each other at speeds up to 1MB over short distances (about 30 feet or less). PDAs, cell phones, printers and other devices are beginning to support Bluetooth. Bluetooth-enabled computers can communicate with each other, too.
Systems requirements for the software include Mac OSX 10.1.4 or greater and the D-Link DWB-120M Bluetooth USB Adapter.
