O’Reilly Network managing editor Derrick Story recently posted a new Weblog discussing his boss Tim O’Reilly’s contribution to this week’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Jose, Calif.

O’Reilly led a discussion called “Watching the Alpha Geeks: OS X and the next big thing.” According to Story, O’Reilly is pleased with Apple’s development of OS X because it adheres to standards, keeps things small and modular, and documenting well.
Tim also gave the audience his perspective on what he’d like to see Steve Jobs doing, and he cited Jobs’ outspokenness on fair use issues, innovation and adherence to existing standards.
“Tim’s messages seemed to resonate well with the WWDC audience. At one point, after Tim had finished his talk and the applause died down, one attendee remarked, ‘Man, that talk was dense. My head’s spinnin’,'” said Story.
