According to R. Craig Hansen, chairman and chief executive officer of Family History Network, the new tool allows users to manage all forms of genealogy-specific communication to and from societies, libraries, courthouses, relatives and more in one application. E-mails, faxes, letters and phone calls are recorded and managed by GENContacts, which also lets you create reports according to contacts, categories and projects. www.everton.com
GENContacts also improves efficiency by keeping track of subscriptions and membership deadlines and renewals, as well as scheduling appointments and follow up calls, Hansen said. The software can print contact information in Rolodex format, print labels and import photos of other researchers. And since it’s built on a database foundation, you can customize the type of data that’s tracked on GENContacts and how it’s organized.
GENContacts is cross-platform. For the Mac, you’ll need Mac OS version 8.1 or later and 32MB RAM (it’s not Carbonized for Mac OS X). The application retails for US$59.95 exclusively on the Family History Network Web site.
