Marathon Computer, makers of rackmount solutions for the Mac, has introduced a solution for mounting your Power Mac G3 and G4 underneath a desk or work surface.
“With the Marathon DeskMount, you can retain easy access to your Mac’s CD/DVD drive doors and front panel buttons and reclaim valuable desk space, while removing from your Mac the dangers of tipping over, rug static and dust bunnies,” Michael Rowland of Marathon said.
The US$60 DeskMount’s steel mounting plate attaches to the underside of a work surface. The plate mounting options are designed to accommodate almost any kind of desk, countertop, or work surface, Rowland said.
For security purposes, the Marathon DeskMount offers a steel hasp that uses the built-in security latch in your Mac tower case. When this latch is engaged, the Mac can’t be removed from the DeskMount. And its side door can’t be opened, protecting RAM and other internal components.
Using the DeskMount — which, by the way, doesn’t interfere with AirPort operation — has all-metal construction with a black anodized and sleek neutral gray finish. Rowland said that installation was quick and easy. All you’ll need is a Phillips screwdriver and fasteners. For more information, including how to order, go to the product Web site.
