OpenOSX, a company that offers open-source software, is now shipping their Office 1.0 CD, which includes a variety of apps for Mac OS X. The new version adds improved stability, performance and the addition of SodiPodi and TeXShop among other improvements, according to Jeshua Lacock of OpenOSX.
Applications that come on the CD include: AbiWord (an open source alternative to Microsoft Word); Gnumeric (a spreadsheet with “95 percent of the functions of Microsoft Excel”); Guppi (a dynamic charting, drawing and graphing application integrated into Gnumeric spreadsheets); SodiPodi (a vector based image manipulation program); and TeXShop (a typesetting editor and previewer for semi-automating the authoring of technical documents).
The OpenOSX Office 1.0 CD is available for US$40. Owners of the previous versions of the CD can upgrade for US$10. OpenOSX is bundling the CD with The Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) with their Office 1.0 CD for US $50.
