Max Programming LLC (Maxprog) has announced the release of eMail Verifier X 1.0, which they bill as the first Mac tool available for batch e-mail validity checking. It’s available for Mac OS X only.
The software is intended for businesses or other organizations that send e-mail in bulk. EMail Verifier X enables you to validate the e-mail addresses in your database before sending out messages, thus negating “undeliverable” bounce backs from mail servers.
Maxprog is multithreaded, and can verify over 10 e-mails per second, according to Maxprog. It uses the same algorithm to check e-mail address validity that is used by many ISP mail systems. Addresses are extracted from a Domain Name Server (DNS). The utility attempts to connect with SMTP servers and simulates the delivery of an e-mail. The utility then disconnects from the mail server once it’s told if the address exists or not. It then builds a list of failed addresses that can then be used for a “please update” campaign.
Released as shareware, eMail Verifier costs US$14.90 to register.
