FontAgent X, Insider Software’s font repair and organization utility for Mac OS X, is now available and ready to take on such products as Suitcase and FontReserve, according to CEO Rio Sabadicci.
The new release adds font activation, set management and support for any number of font libraries to the industry’s leading font optimization product. Sporting a new Aqua-fied interface, FontAgent X incorporates such Mac OS X features as sheets, extensive drag and drop, and toolbars.
“The new FontAgent X is so functionally complete that it is the only font utility that Macintosh users need to organize, activate, preview, repair and manage their font collections,” Sabadicci said. “Other font management vendors have recommended FontAgent to their users for years for its font integrity and organization power, and the users have told us that they want just one comprehensive font product.”
With Insider FontAgent X, you can build libraries containing fonts that have been tested for integrity, assigned meaningful names, and organized by font family, he added. You can find, clean, rejoin, and organize all your fonts on multiple disks. FontAgent checks all resource data for every font file it finds on a Mac. In doing so, it catches corrupt fonts before they start causing crashes, lock-ups, printing errors, unexpected font substitutions and other problems.
The new FontAgent X also lets you define font sets that associate fonts from any number of libraries by drag-and-drop. It also lets you activate and deactivate individual fonts and font sets with a single click. There’s a font preview facility that lets you define any text string and display it in any typeface contained in any font library, in any size, without having to activate the font.
Insider FontAgent X is available for immediate download from Insider’s Web site and costs US $89.95 for a single license. Current FontAgent customers can upgrade for $49.95. Also available for download is a demo version that manages up to 250 font files.
