Marathon Computer will introduce integrated keyboard and monitor rackmounts to work alongside Xserve, and Apple’s other products “in the coming weeks,” according to Michael Rowland, Marathon spokesman.
In fact, the company says it welcomes Apple’s official entry into the rackmount server market. Rowland said Marathon Computer would work “closely” with Apple on the development of hardware solutions that complement and expand on Apple’s product line, as well as a full line of innovative rack accessories.
“We’ve been making rackmount solutions for desktop Macintoshes for several years,” he said. “We’re glad to see Apple directly addressing the server market by introducing a Macintosh designed from the ground up for demanding server use. Xserve will assure the computing world that Apple is serious about the server market. More IT professionals will have reason to find out what a great server platform the Mac is, which can only mean good things for all of us.”
