Morrison SoftDesign has updated FontDoctor — its software for font problem diagnosis, repair and organization — to version 5.1.
FontDoctor supports TrueType (both Mac and Windows versions), PostScript Type 1, PostScript Type 3, Multiple Master fonts, OpenType fonts, DataFork fonts and bitmap fonts. It offers repair methods for damaged font tables, font ID conflicts, duplicate fonts, extra font sizes, mixed font types, missing bitmaps and PostScript fonts, and more.
Version 5.1 introduces new font organization features that allow FontDoctor to sort and clean-up existing font folders into a neatly organized font library, according to MacTech magazine . Now your fonts can be organized by font name, family name, alphabetically or other options. FontDoctor will also print font sample sheets, convert Windows fonts to Macintosh (and vice-versa), and generate font diagnosis and organization reports as needed.
FontDoctor for Macintosh 5.1 is available for Mac OS X, as well as Mac OS 8.6-9.x. A free demo version can be downloaded from the Morrison SoftDesign Web site. The cost is US$69.99 for a single user license and $350 for a site license. Current users can upgrade to version 5.1 for $19.99. However, it’s free to anyone who has purchased FontDoctor within the last 30 days.
