Apple has released a new version of Final Cut Pro, its professional-level digital video edition solution. Final Cut Pro 3.0.2 can now be downloaded from Apple’s Web site.
According to Apple, the new update to Final Cut Pro sports performance and reliability improvements. Additionally, chapter and compression marker export support is now provided for Apple’s DVD Studio Pro 1.5, the first version of Apple’s pro DVD mastering solution to work natively in OS X.
What’s more, Final Cut Pro 3.0.2 features support for real-time effects applied to 23.976fps OfflineRT clips; updated real-time enablers for Power Mac G4’s equipped with dual 1 GHz processors; and more.
And in an affirmation of Steve Jobs’ declared death of Mac OS 9 as a platform to develop on at last week’s WWDC, this footnote appears on Apple’s Web site: “With the release of version 3.0.2 planned development for Final Cut Pro under Mac OS 9 has ended. All future development will be under Mac OS X. Apple will continue to provide Technical Support for compatible Final Cut Pro and Mac OS 9 configurations.”
