Who says we can’t all just get along? Though it makes products that compete with those from Adobe, procreate, a brand of Corel Corp. that offers software applications for creative professionals, has announced a new marketing campaign to promote its products as the “perfect complement” to Photoshop.
Built around a special price promotion for Photoshop users, the procreate complement campaign includes new themed ads, in-store and partner promotions, and a different type of e-card Web site where users can pass on compliments to any variety of friends, family or colleagues.
The procreate line of products includes applications that integrate closely with Photoshop to “enhance and extend the potential of creative professionals,” according to Annette McCleave, executive vice president of marketing for procreate. Each procreate product adds a specific new dimension to Adobe Photoshop workflows based on both Mac and Windows operating systems, she added.
As part of the campaign, users of Adobe Photoshop versions 5.0 through 7.0 can purchase Painter 7 (the Natural Media painting tool) at the upgrade price of US$199 and KnockOut 2 (a tool for masking and preserving complex photo objects with fine image details) at the upgrade price of $149. In a separate offer, Photoshop 7.0 users can purchase KPT effects for $99, a savings of $100. KPT effects is a family of plug-in filters for Photoshop that includes nine filters for adding effects to any image.
