The Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) will present the world’s first Independent Digital Cinema Showcase dedicated to works cut with Final Cut Pro, Apple’s professional level, non-linear editing software. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 5, at the New Ivar Theatre in Hollywood Ca. There will be “14 shorts, 14 filmmakers, seven minutes each, all cut on Apple’s Final Cut Pro,” Michael Horton, head of lafcpug, said.
“This Showcase is designed to bring together the very best talents we can find working in the medium of Digital Story Telling,” he said. “Furthermore, it is to showcase the New Ivar Digital Cinema, a venue we are working very hard to be the first affordable dedicated Digital Cinema Theater in Los Angeles County.”
The latest digital movie tools offer more opportunity for the independent filmmaker than at any other time in Hollywood history, Horton added. lafcpup is committed to turning the New Ivar into a gathering place for Independent artists of all ages, to share ideas, showcase their works, and above all, help each other achieve their goals, he said.
