OpenOSX Inc. today announced it is shipping Office 1.0 v2 CD. The new version of the CD corrects a bug with AbiWord that prevented the word processing software from launching under certain conditions. An updater is also available for download from the OpenOSX Web site.
OpenOSX Office is an open-source office software productivity suite. The suite includes AbiWord, an open source word processing alternative to Microsoft Word. Gnumeric is the alternative to Microsoft Excel, with about 95 percent of Excel’s functionality built-in, according to OpenOSX. Guppi is a dynamic charting, drawing and graphic application integrated into Gnumeric spreadsheets. SodiPodi is a vector-based image manipulation app compared to Illustrator. TeXShop is a typesetting editor and previewer.
OpenOSX Inc. was founded “on the premise that many computer users are intimidated by the UNIX command-line.” The company brings popular UNIX software to Mac users. The OpenOSX Office 1.0 v2 CD is available for US$40. Owners of the previous CD can upgrade for $10.
