The Jewel Bank of Zimbabwe has donated 253 iMacs to schools, under the Edu-Cat computer promotion, according to an AllAfrica.com news article.
Douglas Mamvura, the Jewel Bank executive director of marketing and sales, said the bank decided to launch the Edu-Cat promotion after realizing the critical role played by information technology in schools, the article said. He said that the bank’s view is that schools are a critical market segment, which “require the undivided attention of all stakeholders.”
Regional education director, Harare Mrs Bessie Nhandara, said that her ministry applauds the initiative by the Jewel bank to foster in schools a culture of appreciating technology. She urged the rest of the corporate world to emulate the lead taken by the Jewel Bank in promoting technology in schools, the article said.
