MacPlay, Crave sign 3 game deal; Freedom Force first

has announced a three title Mac game license deal with developer
Crave Entertainment. The companies also announced the first release planned as a result of the deal: Freedom Force, a tactical role playing game set in a world filled with costumed super heroes.
Calling Crave Entertainment one of the most creative companies in the game industry, MacPlay president Mark Cottam said that Freedom Force is just the beginning of the relationship between the two companies. “I think the Mac gamer is going to be really pumped with the line-up we are bringing out,” said Cottam.
Freedom Force, players must defend Earth from an alien invasion that has imbued the planet’s worst miscreants with super powers. To that end, players, assemble, train and deploy a team of 14 different superheroes each with unique powers.
Squad-based strategy will have you using four superheroes at a time over 22 different missions. Players can juggle statistics, pump up powers, recruit new heroes and strengthen existing heroes based on the experience the heroes gather in tactical missions.
The game even features an enhanced “mod” element that allows you to customize and create your own superheroes with personal “skins.”
Freedom Force is coming for Mac OS X, and is expected to be released in this autumn. Rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB, the suggested retail price for this game is US$39.99.
