Netscape today released
Netscape 7.0 Preview Release 1, an early version of the next generation of its Internet communications software for multiple platforms, including the Macintosh.
The new version of Netscape sports enhanced performance and stability, according to the developer. The browser is built on a fine-tuned version of the Gecko engine. Top new features introduced since Netscape 6.2 include:
Tabbed Browsing and Bookmark Groups
Search Tooltips in My Sidebar
Quick Search within mail and Address Book
Performance and stability enhancements to Navigator and Mail.
Mac system requirements call for a 604e/266MHz or faster processor, 64MB RAM, and 36MB hard drive space. Netscape 7.0 Preview Release 1 runs on Mac OS 8.6 or later, including Mac OS X.
