Apple is rolling out a trade-up promotion in many parts of the world encouraging folks to trade up to newer Macs and switch to Mac OS X.
The first place the trade-up promo appeared was on the Apple Russia Web site. A Macintouch reader Kirk McElhearn was apparently the first to notice. He reported, that “word is starting to circulate in Europe about an Apple buy-back promotion.”
Now Macworld UK reports that Apple UK is offering a “Money and Power” promotion that lets Power Mac owners to upgrade their Macs at a discount. Qualifying Power Macs include the 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000-series Macs, and more recent beige G3 desktop Power Macs.
Through July 31, Apple is offering up to £240 to Power Mac purchasers willing to give Apple their old machine, according to Macworld UK. The offer is applicable against purchases of a new Power Mac G4 or Power Mac Server G4. It’s also applicable on build-to-order purchases.
The promotion is apparently available in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, as well.
