The annual iQuest contest is afoot again. Put together by Macscene.org, iQuest is a content to stimulate the creation of “demos,” esoteric accomplishments in graphics programming.
“Demo programmers seek to achieve seemingly impossible programming feats such as real-time ray-tracing, fractal zooms, volumetric lighting, turbulent flow and other real-time visual effects. Demos are also an art form with artists and musicians working with the programmers to produce a powerful composition, awesome 3D models and a stunning light show, set to great music,” explained the contest’s sponsors.
This isn’t a commercial site, so there are no prizes — you’re in this just for fame and glory, if you enter. The deadline for entering this year’s iQuest is Saturday, August 31, 2002. A public vote will decide the winner.
