E-on Software has announced plans to release Ozone 2.0 at July’s Siggraph 2002 trade show in San Antonio, Texas.
Ozone 2.0 is the newest version of E-on Software’s plug-in for LightWave 3D, the 3D graphics and animation package from NewTek. Ozone 2.0 enables LightWave users to add atmospheric effects to their scenes using the same rendering technology that E-on developed for Vue d’Esprit.
Ozone 2.0 features algorithms that produce new kinds of atmospheric effects, according to the developer, producing more natural appearances. It also uses an optimized renderer to work faster. A new volumetric atmosphere system better simulates the way light travels through the atmosphere. Atmospheric animations are also possible.
Ozone 2.0 ships with more than 100 predefined atmospheres, including bright daytime, bad weather, sunrise, sunset, night and more. More than 100 different cloud shapes are also included.
Ozone 2.0 is actually comprised of four discreet plug-ins: A Master plug-in, an Image filter plug-in, a Pixel filter plug-in and a Shader plug-in all work together. The software is being released simultaneously for Mac OS (including OS X) and Windows.
Ozone 2.0 will carry a retail price of about US$249.
