If you have an ailing laptop that needs service right away, Refurbished computer equipment reseller and service center MacResQ has announced a new nationwide same-day pickup service as part of the company’s PowerBookResQ repair program.
The PowerBookResQ program addresses the needs of PowerBook and iBook owners who want to get their systems serviced as quickly as possible. By calling 866.MAC.REPAIR, U.S. users can arrange to have their laptops fixed by MacResQ. Airborne Express is dispatched to your location with a “PowerBox,” MacResQ’s own PowerBook/iBook shipping container. If you call before 2 pm local time, a same-day courier is dispatched to pick up the unit and deliver it to MacResQ the next morning.
MacResQ said it facilitates most repairs within 24 hours of receipt, and returns the repaired PowerBook or iBook via overnight courier. MacResQ President Shannon Jean explained that the same-day pickup service eliminates a full day from the standard repair process.
Now, the service isn’t cheap — the same day pickup service itself costs $149, about $50 more than the “standard” PowerBookResQ shipping charge. That price covers shipping in both directions, the PowerBox and the initial diagnostic service. There’s an additional cost for parts and service, of course. But MasResQ figures it has the upper hand compared to many local Apple service centers, where it can take days or weeks to get an out-of-warranty laptop fixed properly.
