Mac consultant Ilan Szekely has announced an update to Type/Creator Database. The new version (2002.5) is the 23rd release of the singular information source and works with systems up to and including Mac OS 9.x. With 3,150 new codes the database now includes over 42,000 type/creator code pairs, according to MacTech magazine .
Over 6,500 entries also have their PC extension codes. These are similar to the Mac OS X new extensions, Szekely said. The US$20 shareware package also includes additional free databases. All can be accessed via the TCDB home site.
Also, Classical Software has released TFM 1.0.1 for Mac OS X. It’s an update to the tool for searching and viewing documentation and source code and is now available.
It fixes some bugs and lets you selectively add files and search open books for HTML links. With TFM you can search, study or browse Mac OS X developer documentation, framework headers, source code examples, system header files and your own source and documentation.
TFM requires Mac OS X 10.1 or greater. You can download it free, but TFM will expire after 30 days. After that a license is required for use, which costs $39.
