Apple subsidiary FileMaker Inc. has announced the release of FileMaker Mobile 2 Companion for Palm OS. The new version of the software enables users to transfer and synchronize data between FileMaker Pro 5.5 v2 databases on Windows or Mac systems and Palm OS-based PDAs.
FileMaker Mobile 2’s new features include a richer interface and support for Mac OS X. The software can transfer up to 50 fields per record from a FileMaker Pro 5.5 v2 database to the Palm handheld.
The software sports several new methods that users can utilize to enter data on Palm OS-based handhelds, according to FileMaker:
Furthermore, FileMaker Mobile 2 enables you to view data in columnar lists more easily by enabling you to lock down first columns of data, as well as reorder and resize columns. And if you use a Sony CLIE or HandEra 330 PDA, you can navigate through FileMaker Mobile 2 forms using the Jog Wheel or Jog Dial.
FileMaker Mobile 2 requires FileMaker Pro 5.5 v2. Mac system requirements call for Mac OS 8.1 – 9.1 or Mac OS X 10.1.x, and a PDA running Palm OS 3.1 or greater.
The software costs US$49, and FileMaker Mobile 1 registered users are entitled to a free upgrade.
