Ashlar-Vellum Inc. today announced the release of Graphite 6.4, a new version of its professional drafting application.
Ashlar-Vellum president Robert Bou explained that Graphite 6.4 completes the company’s process of migrating classic Vellum 2D/3D drafting software into Ashlar-Vellum’s new Designer Elements line.
Changes to 6.4 include a rewritten Bill of Materials (BoM) feature that makes it easier to attach manufacturing specifications. DXF and DWG file translation has been improved. Tools have been added that speed the placement of frequently used text and data. The Help feature has been significantly enhanced, and Imperial and Metric measures are automatically converted.
What’s more, Graphite 6.4 is now available in German, joining the already available English, French and Portuguese product translations.
Graphite’s price is US$995. Alas, the software runs in Mac OS 9.1 natively only. Ashlar-Vellum notes that it is working on Mac OS X versions of its products, which it expects to release later this year. In the interim, it says its software does work in Mac OS X’s “Classic” compatibility environment.
