New Zealand-based SubRosaSoft has released SubRosa Volume 1-File Utilities, which includes components for file and folder encryption, a decryptor and a multi-pass shredder.
Previously licensed to FWB Software, SubRosa Vol. 1 is the first of many new software applications promised by SubRosaSoft. SubRosa Encryptor lets you encrypt files and folders and encrypt into a secure format. It uses a proprietary technology similar to that used with online banking (128-bit dynamic encryption with rolling keys, stream encryption), according to Marko Kostryko, SubRosa Volume 1’s creator.
Subrosa Shredder erases files or folders from your Mac. It permanently deletes un-wanted files by overwriting the entire contents of the files with an industry recognized secure pattern, Kostryko said.
SubRosa Volume 1 is now available for US$24.95. It requires Mac OS 8.6 or later (including Max OS X) and 8MB of available RAM. All FWB SubRosa users are eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version of SubRosa Vol. 1, which includes improvements such as support for Apple Script and compatibility with Mac OS X’s long files names. A trial version is available for download at the Subrosa Web site.
