Contour Design, the folks who make computer input devices, has released pre-programmed settings for Alias|Wavefront’s Maya 3D animation software to use with its ShuttlePRO Multimedia Jog & Shuttle controller.
These pre-programmed settings make it possible to control Maya’s keyboard-based functions with the ShuttlePRO. The settings are available for free and immediate download from the Contour Design Web site.
The Contour ShuttlePRO Multimedia Controller provides control over digital editing software. Acting as a jog and shuttle controller, it’s designed to offer timeline accuracy that a computer mouse and arrow keys can’t deliver. The ShuttlePRO also has 13 programmable buttons. The US$125 ShuttlePRO connects to computers via USB port and is compatible with Mac OS 8.6-9.2, as well as Mac OS X.
Maya is the award winning 3D animation and visual effects software for film, broadcast, video and game development. It’s available for Windows NT and SGI IRIX workstations, as well as Mac OS X.
Maya Complete 4 is priced at $1,999 and includes modeling, rendering, animation, dynamics, Artisan, Paint Effects and Maya Embedded Language (MEL), an open interface for programming and scripting. Maya Unlimited 4 is priced at $6,999. It may be purchased online.
