Speed Download 1.8.2 has been released by Yazsoft and is a recommended update for all Speed Download users.
Speed Download offers multithreading so you can go online and download as many files as you want, simultaneously. It works with Internet Explorer, Netscape and Opera Web browsers (with more browser support coming soon), Steven Mullin of the Speed Download Team at YazSoft told MacCentral.
Version 1.8.2 has an updated, speedier Speed Download Plug-in for both the Classic and Mac OS X operating systems. FTP performance has been improved and handling of downloads from pages with frames has been improved.
Speed Download 1.8.2 has added a feature to allow adding multiple URLs to the same file (for mirror servers) and a feature to allow adding multiple URLs to different files at once. Percentage downloaded is now displayed even when a download is cancelled. The app has completely optimized drag ‘n drop ability in the main window. The update also updates user-agents information, adds the preference of picking a sound to alert when downloads are complete, and improves the handling of URL rerouting.
Speed Download costs US$20 for a single user. There’s also a double pack license deal that gives users two licenses for $30. You can get more info at the Yazsoft Web site. The 1.8.2 update is now online.
