Wildform, a company that offers video and animation software and resources, has released Flix Lite for the Mac and Windows platforms.
The US$49 product is a “light” version of the company’s Flix Pro Flash video encoder, which was released May 9, 2002. Flix Lite sports such features as bitrate control, encoding presets, html output, and .wav/.mp3 output. It’s designed to let users encode video, add their own customized elements and post it on the Web in three clicks.
Like its big brother, Flix Lite outputs both the new Flash MX video and the older Flash 3-6 video. Wildform’s Flash MX video, which plays in the Flash 6 player, uses high quality video compression that is comparable to QuickTime, Windows Media, and Real, according to Jonathan Blank, Wildform CEO. Flix Lite also outputs both importable and non-importable versions of Flash 3-6 video. Flix encoded video plays on all platforms and browsers, and streams right through firewall, Blank said.
